Meet Chef Julie

Hi my name is Chef Julie and for years I have had such a passion for cooking. If I had to create a coat of arms at least one quadrant would have to be devoted to food. My love of food preparation goes way beyond feeding my stomach.  Maybe it's the challenge of putting together the colors, the textures and the flavors… I was lucky that I grew up in a family that enjoyed good food and I had a mom that just let me cook away and make messes. For me, putting on a big pot of stew, and stirring and smelling the contents for an hour or so, is very soothing.

I believe that cooking is not only a skill but also an attitude. I believe that if you can't find time to add a 'little bit of love' to your cooking, you need to order a pizza: don’t cook! Nothing tastes worse than a meal that's been slapped together by someone who didn't really want to cook...Some days are just like that! 

I love to cook all kinds of foods and I enjoy  food challenges. When I cook, I prepare my meals with high quality ingredients and I like to use interesting combinations of flavors, textures and colors.

I have been teaching the love and art of cooking and nutrition for over 32 years. I have had years of culinary training and educational training and I have a Masters degree.

With my foods and nutrition background I can help you plan a nutritious and delicious meals: full of color, texture, great flavor and full of  "heart."

I was born and grew up in Seattle. I attended the University of Washington and graduated from Central University with a teaching degree.  I have Masters in Education and have an extensive background in Foods and Nutrition and Child Development.

Family is important to me.  I have a great husband named Steve who is a math teacher. I have three adult children and 8 grandchildren and a dog named Mojo. I guess you also need to know that I am a huge Seattle Seahawk fan!

I was a member of Personal Chef Association 

I have had attended seminar classes at the Seattle Arts Institute and the University of San Antonio School of Cooking and The University of Washington.   Along with many additional cooking classes at: Santa Fe Cooking school, Cake decorating I and II classes, and many Cooking and Nutrition class from Central University and University of Washington.

I have also done event planning for weddings, several business retreats and a large class reunion.

I also hold a Washington State ServSafe Certification.​
